The 2019 Dbacks season is underway and i'm not excited about it. In fact I have never been less excited about a Dbacks opener than I am for this season.
They proved my point by opening up with a 12-5 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday.
The 2019 version of the snakes has given me nothing to hook on to. So much so that I picked the Dbacks to win 70 games this season and finish last in the NL West.
I used to look forward to Opening Day every year, My dad & I would make it an appointment to be at the Dbacks home opener every April. It did not matter how many games they lost the year prior I loved the optimism that comes with opening day.
Just not this year.
Why?
- The Arizona Coyotes are in a playoff race for the first time in nearly a decade with a young, fun team to watch with a lot of great stories. While the Dbacks still have six long months of baseball remaining
- Paul Goldschmidt is in St Louis, AJ Pollock started in CF for the Dodgers Thursday & Patrick Corbin will debut for the Nationals this weekend. All three I enjoyed watching play and were easy to root for.
- The layers to the Cardinals Kyler Murray “smokescreen” are endless & damn do the Cardinals keep feeding the beast. Some people are sick of it but just ponder the last time the Arizona Cardinals were in the national headlines every day like they are now
I went to my first Dbacks game when I was eight years old. I love this team through the good times & the bad and for the first time in awhile i’m not excited for Diamondbacks baseball.
Does that make me a bad fan?
