The Arizona Cardinals announced that Carson Palmer would become the franchise's 18th member of their prestigious Ring of Honor.
Palmer spent 5 years with the Cardinals and quickly became one of the best quarterbacks in franchise history.
He's just the 5th player from the Phoenix/Arizona era to be inducted, joining Pat Tillman, Aeneas Williams, Adrian Wilson and Kurt Warner.
Out of all QB's who spent their entire career playing for the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals, Palmer has the most wins and TD passes and is second to only Jake Plummer in passing yards.
He is, improbably, one of only 2 QB's in Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals history to finish his Cardinals career with a winning record.
For a franchise that counts Josh McCown, Steve Beurerlein and Drew Stanton amongst their five most winningest signal callers in franchise history, Carson is deserving.
If you are statistically the greatest QB in an NFL's teams history, you should be recognized.
But was he a better choice than Larry Centers? Or Anquan Boldin?
Centers became the first RB in NFL history with 100 catches in a season and is the NFL's all time career reception leader by a RB and a 3 time Pro Bowler. Over his career from 1990-1998, he was one of only four Cardinals to garner a spot on the All Pro list during that time, which he did in 1996.
Centers production, professionalism and durability should've earned him a spot in the Ring of Honor by now.
Anquan Boldin is the second leading receiving in Phoenix/Arizona franchise history in every major statistical category, trailing only Larry Fitzgerald. He was a 3 time Pro Bowler and amassed five 1000 yard receiving seasons in his seven year Cardinals career. His toughness was legendary and he was an integral part of the franchise's most successful run ever.
They probably should've inducted him into the Ring of Honor after returning from getting his face broken.
He should be in too, regardless of how he left the organization. Clearly he is not loved by Bidwill the same way Carson Palmer is.
Carson Palmer was liked by most Cardinals fans but was not loved the way Centers and Boldin are/were.
Shouldn't that matter as much, if not more, than how Michael Bidwill feels?
