The Phoenix Suns blew it by not keeping Devin Booker happy

Welcome Ricky Rubio to Phoenix. The Phoenix Suns think they have found their point guard to take them to the promised land and his name is not D’Angelo Russell. In fact according to the Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin the all star was never in the Suns plans because of a wacky nonsensical reason.

“The Suns chose not to pursue Russell despite Devin Booker's campaign for them to target his close friend, according to league sources familiar with the situation.
The Suns apparently felt Russell wouldn’t have been a good influence on Booker off the court.”

Read that again. This is a professional organization passing on a legit all star point guard because they are worried about what might happen down the road when you can’t really afford to play that game coming off two of the worst seasons in team history. The problem is as Alex Clancy has pointed out many times on our show the Suns might not have to worry about what Booker does off the court because he won’t even be in a Suns uniform if they don't start winning.

Plus if you are worried about Devin Booker’s off court behavior this far into his NBA tenure maybe he isn’t professional enough to be the face of your franchise anyway and now you have just gone and made him unhappy by not pursuing his best friend. This weird reasoning by the Phoenix Suns is another example of how the Suns are gonna Suns and probably wind up with another season of less than 30 wins.

How to keep Devin Booker happy so he doesn’t ask for a trade

The Suns did not land a top-two pick in the draft lottery, what does that mean for the future of Devin Booker?
