Senator JohnMcCain will lie in state here at the Arizona Capitol this Wednesday -- his birthday. This is a rare and distinct occurrence for a truly special man. John McCain is Arizona, and we will honor his life every way we can.

In addition to the Arizona Capitol, Sen. John McCain will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., which is a rare honor bestowed on only 31 people in 166 years. Lying in state, is an honor reserved for "government officials and military officers" which involves laying the casket of the deceased in the Rotunda of the US Capitol where the public can come to pay their respects.

The McCain family is also planning all funeral arrangements which includes a burial in the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Md.

McCain  passed away at his home in Sedona, Arizona on Saturday (August 26th). The Arizona senator  was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in July 2017, and was undergoing various treatments, including both chemotherapy and radiation over the last year up until Friday when his family announced that the senator was discontinuing treatment.
