Cohen & Chayka to Donate 20% of their Salaries to AZ COVID-19 Relief Fund

Arizona Coyotes President & CEO Ahron Cohen and President of Hockey Operations & General Manager John Chayka announced today that they will donate 20% of their salaries over the coming months to support the Arizona Coronavirus Relief Fund and other Arizona non-profits working to combat COVID-19’s impact on Arizona.

“Arizona has been our team’s home for nearly 25 years and this community has rallied around the Coyotes in good times and bad,” said Cohen. “In a moment of such critical need, my wife Dana and I feel compelled to do what we can as a family to help our Arizona family. As a business leader, a husband, a father and an Arizonan, I see this as our privilege and responsibility to help support the people of this great State. I know we will make it through this challenge as a result of all of us Arizonans rallying together.”

Chayka cited the example being set by those on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis as an inspiration for the decision to donate.

“Kathryn and I could not be more grateful to the healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, EMTs, and grocery store and food service workers who every day sacrifice so much so their neighbors can stay healthy and safe,” said Chayka. “Now more than ever, we want to do everything we can to support this great State that has given us so much. Both Ahron and I are doing this on behalf of our entire Coyotes organization and following the example set by Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo and his family in supporting Gila River Arena workers during this challenging time.”

The Arizona Coronavirus Relief Fund has been created toprovide financial support to organizations working to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 cross the state of Arizona. Initially, the fund will focus on the following immediate needs: funding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for frontline medical personnel; providing resources to nonprofit organizations that support the most vulnerable Arizonans through food banks, homeless shelters, domestic violence facilities, and other services; and efforts to provide low-income students with technology enabling them to transition to online learning.
