Clay Travis: 'Sideshow Act' Colin Kaepernick Doesn't Want to Be in the NFL

Clay Travis: “Colin Kaepernick is DONE. He didn’t treat his opportunity to get a job with the NFL with any respect. If you’re already known for inflammatory reasons, do you really think it’s smart to show up for the workout that you’ve been begging for three years with a Kunta Kinte shirt on? Kunta Kinte was the slave in Alex Haley’s ‘Roots’ book. Kaepernick made $100 million playing football and is showing up in a T-shirt saying he’s a slave?? Kaepernick doesn’t want a job in this league, he’d rather be a martyr, a social justice warrior, and a guy who is not employable, because the moment he gets signed in the NFL and becomes a backup, all of his martyrdom is gone.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Clay Travis explain why he doesn’t think maligned former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick will ever play in the NFL again, and that’s exactly what one of the most polarizing athletes in sports history wants.

Kaepernick held an unsanctioned public workout after getting into a bizarre battle with the NFL over details regarding the logistics of the event, which were allegedly pushed by paid NFL event strategist Jay-Z in an attempt to quell vitriol between both parties and better Kaepernick's chances of returning to football.

Kaepernick ended up throwing for a handful of teams at a local high school in Atlanta to the dismay of the NFL, who wanted to limit the media exposure of the unprecedented tryout.

Clay says Kaepernick wanted the occasion to be a circus all along, and says Kaepernick accomplished his goal of bringing a massive amount of publicity to himself and his brand, while also coming off as a rebellious character directly resisting the league’s wishes.

Check out the audio below as Clay details why Kap’s brand as a banned and black balled martyr offers much more lucrative opportunities to his legacy, than the potential of Kap actually being signed and then instantly just becoming another backup quarterback in the NFL who was given a chance but simply wasn't good enough to play.
