Colin Cowherd: Giants Treated Eli Manning's Benching With 'Dignity & Class'

New York Giants v Dallas Cowboys
Colin Cowherd: “The reality is that money equals respect. Do you know the player who has made more money than any player in the history of the league? It’s Eli Manning. The Giants tried hiring two different offensive guys to fix you… McAdoo benched you for an hour and then was fired. I see that nostalgia, he was the guy who beat the hated Brady and Belichick –– it’s Jeter-esque. Eli has had three straight years of BAD football and is a ‘walking on eggshells’ type quarterback where you don’t want to talk about it publicly. Everyone likes Eli but he’s not very good. Breakups are never easy but this is about as good as it gets. The heir apparent looks like Eli and even talks like Eli, and was coached by a guy who’s friends with the Manning family, David Cutcliffe. Eli is okay with this. He’s not being disrespected. They’ve been very kind to Eli and treated him with absolute grace and dignity.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Colin Cowherd refute Hall of Fame former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw’s recent comments about Eli Manning’s recent demotion.

Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl champion and now Fox Sports analyst, says he wouldn’t be handling the situation the same way if he were in Eli shoes, and says he would be ‘packing his bags’.

Colin disagrees with Bradshaw, and says the Giants tried almost everything to save and extend Eli’s career, whether it be hiring offensive-minded coaches, or designing a quick-hitting West Coast-style offense to alleviate the shortcomings of his immobility.

Check out the audio below as Colin says the Giants actually gave Eli a very honorable severance package, with Daniel Jones, literally an Eli clone who’s college coach at Duke is a friend of the Manning family, being Eli’s successor.
