Cardinals trade for Markus Golden

Arizona Cardinals v San Francisco 49ers

The Cardinals have found their replacement for Chandler Jones. Friday afternoon, Arizona traded a 6th-round pick for Giants outside linebacker Markus Golden.

Golden had 10 sacks last year in 16 starts for the Giants, and this season he accumulated 1.5 sacks as a rotational pass-rusher.

The Cardinals have 6 sacks in their last two games, but enter the meat of their schedule over the next several games, playing Russell Wilson twice, Tua Tagovailoa, Josh Allen and Cam Newton over their next five.

Golden was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2015 draft, and played four years in Arizona before signing with the Giants in 2019. He averaged five sacks per season with the Cardinals. The 29-year-old is on a one year contract, and will be a free agent after the season.

Golden has never played for Vance Joseph or Kliff Kingsbury.
