Arizona Coyotes Draft Logan Cooley Third Overall

The Arizona Coyotes selected Logan Cooley with the third overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft on Thursday evening.

Cooley, 18, is a 5-foot-10,180-pound center from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He brings a skillset comprised of tremendous speed, pace, and high offensive IQ. Cooley was ranked as the No. 2 overall North American skater in the NHL Scouting rankings. Shane Wright, selected two spots after by the Seattle Kraken was the only player ranked higher than Cooley.

Teaming up Cooley with the infusion of young talent on the roster such as forward, Clayton Keller will have Coyotes fans buzzing around the Valley.

Cooley was a member of the US Hockey National Team Development Program. He is expected to enroll at the University of Minnesota this upcoming fall for his freshman year.

In 75 games, Cooley had 75 points (27 goals, 48 assists). He also helped guide the US team to a silver medal in the IIHF World Under-18 Championship this past spring.

His aspiration of reaching the NHL is still setting in.

"It still feels like a dream," Cooley said in his post draft press conference in front of Arizona media members.
