Diamondbacks Begin Second Half Against Nationals

The Arizona Diamondbacks resume play tonight at Chase Field against the Washington Nationals (31-63), who have the fewest wins in baseball.

They begin a three-game series with first pitch at 6:40 pm with Zac Gallen on the hill.

With 70 games remaining in the regular season - the D-Backs enter play with a (40-52) record.

The biggest news heading into the All-Star break was the report that Nationals young phenom - Juan Soto - rejected a multi-year, $400 million-plus offer from Washington as they begin the lengthy process of a rebuild. Essentially, making Soto, 23, one of the most sought after players before the trade deadline on August 2.

Arizona will look to capitalize on the floundering Nationals to get back on track and finish the second half of the season on a strong note.

Here is the pitching matchups for the weekend.

  • Tonight (6:40 p.m.) - RHP Zac Gallen (4-2, 3.56) vs. Nationals LHP Patrick Corbin (4-12, 5.87).
  • Saturday (5:10 p.m.) - LHP Madison Bumgarner (5-9, 3.83) vs. Nationals RHP Anibal Sanchez (0-1, 7.20).
  • Sunday (1:10 p.m.) - TBA vs. Nationals RHP Erick Fedde (5-7, 4.91).
