Biggest snub is Jalen Ramsey ranked ahead of Patrick Peterson. Not sure why its so hard for national media to recognize @p2 as the best CB in NFL. Ramsey is awesome but he's the heir apparent to Peterson. https://t.co/F0FiQwf9Rt— Jody Oehler (@radiojody) August 28, 2018
The most insulting ranking to Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson to date has be unveiled. ESPN revealed its Top 100 best NFL players rankings for 2018. The Cardinals are well represented. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is 90th, pass rusher Chandler Jones is 43rd, running back David Johnson is 27th and Peterson is ranked the highest on his team at 20th.
Only one defensive back is ranked ahead of Peterson on the list, Jacksonville Jaguars corner Jalen Ramsey. Jody Oehler says this ranking is a bit premature.
“Jalen Ramsey is the heir apparent when Patrick Peterson loses a half step — that step has not been lost by Patrick Peterson”
On The Drive, Oehler admits Ramsey is quickly emerging as the NFL's top young corners, but it's too soon to crown him the league's best. Especially when, Peterson, the top dog, is still playing at the highest level.
"All he’s done, primarily over the last two seasons, is shut down number-one wide receiver after number-one receiver"
P2 has made the Pro Bowl each and every one of his seven NFL seasons. His numbers might not stack up due to being ranked among the four least-targeted corners in the game four out of the past five years according to Pro Football Focus.
