"To me Paul Goldschmidt represents everything the Diamondbacks franchise had been seeking since its inception. A home grown, legitimate, Major League Baseball superstar."
Jody Oehler cautions the Arizona Diamondbacks about dealing with the New York Yankees. ESPN MLB analyst Buster Olney connected the dots following D-backs GM Mike Hazen telling AZ Central Sports' Nick Piecoro that ball club would listen to offers for its best players.
"I have been on record repeatedly, I do not think trading Paul Goldschmidt does this franchise any good. Period."
Oehler believes Goldschmidt is the greatest home grown D-backs player of all-time along with pitcher Brandon Webb who won a Cy Young award.
"If you're going to trade Paul Goldschmidt, it has to be so insanely, over the top loppsided in the Diamondbacks favor.
I would build around Paul Goldschmidt. I'd be okay with giving Paul Goldschmidt a contract extension."
