Peter Schrager reports the Arizona Cardinals are hiring Kliff Kingsbury as the their next head coach. Kingsbury takes over for Steve Wilks who was fired after leading the team to a 3-and-13 record his first season.
The 39-year-old offensive guru was 35-40 overall as head coach of Texas Tech for six seasons. He was fired after the Red Raiders went 5-and-7 in 2018. Kingsbury coached both quarterback phenoms' Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield while in Lubbock, Texas.
After being fired from his alma mater, Kingsbury accepted the job as USC's offensive coordinator before meeting and agreeing to join the Cardinals.
Kingsbury was drafted 201st overall out of Texas Tech by the New England Patriots in 2003. He takes the task of developing quarterback Josh Rosen and improving an offense that finished dead last in the NFL in 2018.
