Kent Somers believes the Arizona Cardinals have a glaring need following some free agent signings this NFL offseason.
Jody Oehler asked the AZ Central Sports columnist what is the Cardinals biggest remaining need is this offseason.
"Oh, receiver. No question. When the only receiver you've signed in free agency is Kevin White, one of the bigger disappointments in the draft the last four years, you haven't filled any holes."
The team returns future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald and rookie standout Christian Kirk. Outside of those two pass catchers the wide receiver room is extremely thin. J.J. Nelson signed with the Oakland Raiders, but the Cardinals won't miss his dropped passes. Wideouts not named Larry or Christian only accounted for 46 catches, 482 yards and two touchdowns in 2018 between Trent Sherfield, Chad Williams, Nelson and Jalen Tolliver.
Somers points out that the 2019 free agent class was not impressive and feels it was tough for the team to improve with the crop. But the Cardinals must add through trades, the draft or GM Steve Keim finding a free agent diamond in the rough.
Kent tells Jody that he feels Arizona did a good job in free agency but is concerned with the durability of Keim's 2019 class. LISTEN to the entire interview.
