An Interesting Training Camp Change Under Kingsbury

The Arizona Cardinals announced their 2019 Training Camp schedule under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury and Cardinals fans and media members can breathe a sigh of relief.

The Cardinals will have 14 practices open to the public at University of Phoenix Stadium, well above the NFL average.

For reference, the Philadelphia Eagles will have just one open practice and the New York Jets will have five.

Cardinals fans will have ample opportunity to get their first glimpse of quarterback Kyler Murray and the rest of the new members of the team.

There was one interesting change to the schedule, however, that may give us another clue of what to expect from Kliff Kingsbury.

The practices listed are just two hours long, which is 30-60 minutes shorter than training camp practices under Steve Wilks and Bruce Arians.

Earlier this offseason, Kliff also delayed starting OTA's by an extra week and cancelled the final day of mandatory minicamp (a common theme in the NFL).

Maybe its his age, his closeness to his own playing days or just his personal preference but so far Kingsbury has struck a very player friendly chord in his debut offseason.

Whether he's wisely ingratiating himself to his new team or making a rookie mistake, we will only know down the road.

Personally, I think its the absolute right decision. Had Kingsbury walked into the locker room trying to prove to his players that he was in charge and trying to be Coach Hard Ass with a grueling training camp schedule, his chances of success would've likely been doomed from the start.

This appears to align with Kingsbury's own personality, meaning he's not trying to be anything he's not.

And that alone means the Kliff Kingsbury Era is off to the right start.
