Sports Betting Legal in AZ by Fall?

Arizona State Representative Jeff Weninger joined Jody Oehler to talk about the bill in place that, if passed, would legalize sports gambling in the state of Arizona.

As for a timeline when the bill could be passed and sports gambling allowed throughout the state of Arizona, Weninger offered this timeline:

"So now Bill is primed and ready to go to the floor on Monday and hopefully be voted out on Monday, and be heading to the Governor's desk early next week.....We need a super majority to have an emergency clause that I put on it. Emergency clause means it goes into effect pretty much right away but we'll have to wait for the gaming compact to be signed. Long and short of it, gaming compact gets signed off on and this Bill gets signed off on, it means we can most likely be betting by football season."

Weninger when Jody Oehler asked if the Indian Reservation casinos will have full sports book like seen in Las Vegas sportsbooks:

"Absolutely, If you think about it, they're really set up for that already."

Weninger on Arizona sports venues housing sports betting:

"They can have a sportsbook on the premises and they can also partner with online vendors (FanDuel, Draft Kings) so you can be betting on your phone as well."

Weninger on if there would be options for daily fantasy games if the bill is passed:

"You would. This would allow it on your phone. I'm very passionate about the Veteran's Club and these veteran organizations.....this would allow them to have Keno and it would allow them to have Fantasy Sports kiosks. Almost a jukebox.....You can also do that at the racetrack."
