April 22 is fast approaching. Why should that date matter to sports fans, especially University of Arizona sports fans? According to Yahoo Sports, initial notifications of a federal subpoena have now been sent to UofA’s Sean Miller and LSU’s Will Wade. This is another step toward both college basketball coaches actually testifying in federal court, and it is a furtherance of details beyond what was determined from the initial federal trial in 2018.
Since little details directly involving Arizona were revealed from the Fall trial, and since UofA’s former assistant coach Book Richardson recently pled guilty to federal bribery charges to avoid a trial of his own, many Wildcats fans were of the opinion that there would be little to no additional negativity upon UofA basketball head coach Sean Miller. However, with the upcoming subpoena, it is more likely than not that the actual wiretaps (talking to agent Christian Dawkins) will be made public and the undesired reality of Miller being directly involved in unwelcome recruiting practices will come to light.
Dan Wetzel broke the story for Yahoo Sports & has a lot more details.
