Cardinals Quarterback Kyler Murray joined an exclusive club with his performance in Sunday’s 23-17 loss on the road to Baltimore. Kyler completed 25 of his 40 pass attempts for 349 yards. That is two games of 300-plus yards passing for the rookie. Only one other rookie QB has done that in his first two games. Panthers QB Cam Newton lost his first games in 2011 but threw for over 400 yards in both games. Cam went on to win offensive rookie of the year that season.
Kyler’s top targets were once again Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald. For the future hall of famer he has began the season with back to back 100 yard receiving games. The last time Larry put together two consecutive 100 yard games was week two and week three of the 2015 season. Fitzgerald is on pace for a career season of over 1700 yards receiving at 36 years old. Will it happen? Probably not but the Kyler and Fitz tandem is what the Cardinals tandem needs & deserves in 2019. Kyler Murray might be responsible for extending Fitzgerald’s career another season or two and the torch will eventually be passed from Fitz to Kyler as the face of the Arizona Cardinals.
