Arizona Coyotes qualifying round series begins August 2nd

The Arizona Coyotes will restart their season beginning on August 2nd in the Western Conference hub city of Edmonton. The best of five qualifying round series against the Nashville Predators will continue with back to back games on August 4th and 5th. Games four and five will take place if necessary on August 7th and August 9th. If the Coyotes win the series their next opponent is to be determined after a re-seeding takes place. If they lose the series they will have a 12.5 percent chance at obtaining the first overall pick in the 2020 draft as their first round pick that was dealt to New Jersey as part of the Taylor Hall trade is top three protected.

Before leaving for Edmonton on July 26th the Coyotes will begin a training camp on July 13th at Gila River Arena. Up until the announcement of the schedule no players currently on the roster have opted out of returning to play, the deadline to decide will be 5 p.m. ET on Monday.

The NHL also announced the final date of the Stanley Cup Final being no later than October 4th with the draft taking place on October 9th and free agency possibly beginning on the same day as the first round of the draft.
